Children’s Mental Health Week in Primary 5

9th Feb 2026

Primary 5 had a wonderful day taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week, exploring how small activities can make a big difference to our wellbeing.

To help us pause, reflect, and look after our minds, the children enjoyed a range of mindfulness activities, including:

🖍️ Mindful colouring – taking time to focus on patterns and colours helped everyone feel calm and centred.

📚 Reading a wellbeing and mindfulness book – pupils spent time enjoying a book designed to help them understand emotions, relaxation, and positive mental health strategies.

🎲 Mindful games – working together through play encouraged teamwork, turn‑taking, and positive connections.

🧘 Yoga – the class took part in simple yoga routines, practising breathing, stretching, and balance to support relaxation and focus.

The pupils showed fantastic enthusiasm and reflected thoughtfully on how these strategies can support their mental health both in school and at home.
