Hands on Problem Solving in P4!
This week in our problem solving lesson, we had to help a girl called Harriet who’d had a power cut in her house and she needed to find some socks. In the drawer there were 12 white socks and 12 black socks and she had to find them in total darkness. We had to work out the smallest number of socks she could take out of the drawer to be sure of having two of the same colour.
The children were encouraged to used objects around the room to help them visualise the problem. Some used black and white multilink, others used Lego and play-doh. They worked in groups to find the correct answers and it was lovely to see how engaged they were and how much easier they found it to solve the problem when they could see it. Another excellent morning of work by P4! 🔸🧮🧊
